Satta King in one paragraph

"Satta King" (सट्टा किंग) is not one game and not one company. It is the everyday name for a group of daily number games run in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and nearby states, such as Gali, Desawar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, and for the many websites that list their results. Each game produces one two-digit number a day. People bet money on that number through local bookies or online, which is illegal gambling in most of India. Results websites, including this one, publish the declared numbers and keep old record charts; we do not take bets, sell numbers or work with anyone who does.

What the words mean

"Satta": a trade word before it meant betting

The Hindi word सट्टा (saṭṭā) began in the language of trade. Platts' dictionary of 1884 defines it as "a mercantile transaction; a contract or engagement, a written agreement, a bond; a market". McGregor's Oxford Hindi-English Dictionary adds a fourth sense, "speculation". Neither dictionary uses the word "gambling". The betting meaning comes from modern usage, in everyday speech and in police and news reports.

"Satta" moved from trade deal to market to speculation; "King" is used in the press for operators.

Why "King"? Two explanations, one documented

Results sites often say "Satta King" once meant the person who won the day's draw, and that the title later stuck to the game itself. We found no reliable source for that story. What the press record does show is different: in news reports, "King" is a label for operators. Ratan Khatri, who ran a large matka business in Mumbai, was widely called the "Matka King" in his obituaries. In September 2025, The Tribune reported the arrest at Amritsar airport of a man described as Delhi's "Satta King", accused of running a large betting network. So when you read "Satta King" in a newspaper, it usually means an alleged kingpin, not a game or a winner.

You will also see the name with extra words, such as Satta King 786, Gali Satta King or Desawar Satta. These are search phrases and website names, not separate games, and no website is an "official" source. Our guide to these name variants explains them.

The games the name covers

A two-digit result per game per day

Each game has a name and a usual declaration time. Once a day, one two-digit number from 00 to 99 is declared for it. That number is the whole record: there is no second part and no three-digit "panna" as in Mumbai-style matka. On result charts, the number is often called the jodi (जोड़ी, "pair"), simply because it has two digits. When a game does not run on a day, charts show XX. Every result is recorded under the date it is declared; our chart guide explains the layout and symbols.

No reliable published history exists for these North Indian games. A Hindi news site, NPG News, put it plainly in 2025: there is no official record of their history because the game is illegal. Our history guide sets out what is documented, which is mostly the Mumbai matka story, and what is only repeated by websites.

Names you will see on charts

The six games most people look for are:

  • Desawar (देसावर, also spelled Disawar), declared early in the morning
  • Gali (गली), declared late at night
  • Faridabad (फरीदाबाद), declared in the evening
  • Ghaziabad (गाज़ियाबाद), declared in the evening
  • Delhi Bazar (दिल्ली बाज़ार), declared in the afternoon
  • Shree Ganesh (श्री गणेश), declared in the afternoon

Many smaller games follow the same pattern; all games in time order are listed on one page, and the result times guide gives each game's usual time. The names come from places (Faridabad, Ghaziabad), old trade words (bazar, "market"; disawar, "outside market") or devotional words. Why each game carries its name is not documented; see Gali and Desawar: what the names mean and where the game names come from.

Satta King, Satta Matka and lotteries: not the same thing

The three are often mixed up online. The table sets out the differences in record format and legal status.

A private satta draw is not a lottery in law, whatever a website calls it. Lotteries are legal only when a state government organises them under the conditions of the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998. See Satta Matka vs Satta King for more on the two formats.

Short answer: no.

  • "Betting and gambling" is a State subject under the Constitution (List II, Entry 34), so each state makes its own law.
  • Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and most other states treat number betting such as satta as illegal gambling.
  • Organised betting by a member of a group or gang is "petty organised crime" under section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
  • Offering or advertising online money games has been banned nationally since 1 May 2026, under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.
  • This is general information, not legal advice. Full details: Is Satta King legal in India?

Enforcement is real. On 20 March 2026 the government said it had blocked about 300 more betting and gambling sites and apps, and that "action has also been taken against satta and matka gambling networks".

Why results websites exist, and what this site does and does not do

People look up results for many reasons: curiosity, local news, research, or to check a number someone has shown them. Many results sites, though, mix the numbers with betting adverts, "guessing" forums, app downloads and contact numbers for agents. That turns a list of numbers into promotion, and promotion of online money games is now an offence.

This site keeps to a narrow job:

  • We publish the declared result of each game and keep a historical record back to 2015, with each value checked and time-stamped.
  • We explain the record: what the symbols mean, when each game is declared and why past numbers cannot predict the next one (why charts cannot predict results).
  • We do not accept bets, sell or share numbers, show betting ads, link to apps or agents, or take money from anyone in the satta trade.

Our data sources and editorial policy explains how results are recorded and corrected, and the disclaimer sets out the limits of the site.

Legal. Betting on these games breaks state gambling laws in most of India, and police in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh regularly raid satta operations. Anyone who helps run a network faces heavier charges, including under BNS section 112.

Financial. In the Mahadev betting-app case, the Enforcement Directorate was quoted saying the games were rigged so that users "ultimately … are likely to lose money", even after small early profits. A random two-digit draw also has no pattern to exploit; the odds of the next number do not change because of past numbers.

Scams. The most common harm is fraud. Sellers on WhatsApp, Telegram and YouTube offer "leak" or "fix" numbers for a fee. No one can know a result before it is declared, so every such offer is a scam. Read how the "leak" and "fix" number scam works. A related trap is being paid to "rent" your bank account to a betting network; the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) warns this can lead to arrest.

Frequently asked questions

What is Satta King?

Satta King is a common name for a group of illegal daily number-betting games in North India, such as Gali, Desawar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, and for the websites that publish their declared results. Each game has one two-digit result a day.

Why is it called "Satta King"?

"Satta" is a Hindi trade word for a deal, a market or speculation. Results sites often say "King" once meant the day's winner, but we found no source for that. In news reports, "Satta King" and "Matka King" usually refer to operators.

Is Satta King a lottery?

No. In India a lottery is legal only when a state government runs it under the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998. A private satta draw is not a lottery, whatever a website calls it.

Is Satta King legal in India?

No. Satta is illegal gambling under state laws in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and most other states, and offering or advertising online money games is banned nationally since 1 May 2026. See our legal guide. This is not legal advice.

Is Satta King the same as Satta Matka?

No. Satta Matka began in Bombay in the early 1960s and records a three-part result. Satta King games record one two-digit number per game per day. Both are illegal gambling in most of India.

Can anyone know a Satta King result in advance?

No. A result is not known until it is declared. Anyone selling a "leak" or "fix" number is running a scam. If you paid such a seller, call 1930. Read how the scam works.

Does this website take bets or sell numbers?

No. We only publish declared results and historical records. We do not accept bets, sell or share numbers, promote any app, or work with any khaiwal or operator.
